Q. How do I get an electronic PDF of an article or chapter that OHSU Library only owns in print format?

For articles or book chapters that are not available electronically, there are several options for OHSU patrons:

If the Library owns the volume you need in print, you can place a hold on the volume through the catalog and it will be pulled from the stacks and held for you at one of the two library service desks. Alternatively, you can have the volume sent to you via campus mail.

If you would prefer to receive the material as a PDF file, you can place an online request through our Get It For Me service (interlibrary loan/document delivery) and have it scanned and sent to you. To place a request:

1. Navigate to the OHSU Library webpage and select the 'Services' tab.

2. Click on 'Borrow and Request.'

3. Navigate to 'Get It For Me Service' and click on the service hyperlink.

4. From the 'Get It For Me Service' page, log in with your OHSU credentials.

5. If you are a new user, you will be asked to register for an account. Please enter your contact information.

6.Once your account is set up, you can then place requests by clicking either of the two request options under New Requests on the left side of your screen. From there, you will be asked to provide citation information. The more accurate and complete, the faster your request can be filled!

7. Typical turnaround time to receive an article PDF is 1-3 business days and between 1-3 weeks to receive a physical loan.

8. You will receive an email notification letting you know when your requested item is available. If you requested an article, you will need to sign in to your Get It For Me account (interlibrary loan/document delivery) and from there, simply click on View fulfilled PDFs located to the left of your screen.  If you have requested a physical item, you can pick it up at the location you specified in your request.
