Q. How do I request an OHSU-owned book through the catalog?

If you would like to have a book placed on hold for you at one of the Library Service Desks or sent to you through campus mail, this is the process to make a request:
1. Library Search:
From the Library Homepage, go to Library Search.
2. Sign in:
Click the link at the upper right corner of the screen. Sign in using your OHSU Network ID (the first part of your OHSU email address before the @ symbol and the associated password). If you do not have a Network ID, use your last name and your OHSU Library barcode.
Once you have signed in, use the Journals, Books, & More field to search for the item you would like to request.
4. Availability & Request Options:
When you find the correct item in your search results, choose Availability & Request Options. If the item is available electronically, it will say Available Online.
5. Check Availability:
After you select Availability & Request Options, check the item’s location and the number of available copies.
Items on reserve, items in the reference collection, and items located in the HCA (Historical Collections & Archives), cannot be requested or placed on hold. If there are no available copies of the item, you can still request it and your name will be added to the wait list. When the item is returned, you will be notified that it is available under your name for pickup from the hold shelf. If you do not wish to be put on the wait list, you can also request the item through our interlibrary loan/document delivery service.
6. Request/Place a hold:
Choose Request/Place a hold from the Availability & Request Options menu.
7. Select Pickup location:
Before you request the item, select a pickup location from the dropdown menu. You can choose to retrieve your hold from the service desk at the OHSU Library in the BICC or at the OHSU Learning Resource Center in the CLSB. We can also send items to distance education Students, to the Oregon Primate Center Library, or through campus mail.
Place the request. You will receive an e-mail notification when your hold is ready for pickup at your designated location.
